SriLankan Airlines doubles down: Ahmedabad next, 100+ India flights by December 2026
New Ahmedabad route with 4 weekly flights joins Jetstar, Vietjet, and others expanding Sri Lanka links.
SriLankan Airlines announced the addition of Ahmedabad as a new India destination, with four weekly flights, as part of an ambitious plan to exceed 100 weekly India services by December 2026. This expansion reflects both the strength of the India–Sri Lanka travel corridor and the airline's confidence in market growth.
India is Sri Lanka's top tourism source, and India-based travellers also use Sri Lanka as a transit hub for onward travel. More frequent flights mean cheaper fares, easier scheduling, and better connectivity for both leisure and business travellers. Jetstar, Vietjet, Vietnam Airlines, and SkyUp also reported new or expanded Sri Lanka links during 2025—a sign that the market is heating up.
For Sri Lankan travellers heading to India, especially to Gujarat (Ahmedabad's state), more competition and frequency is good news. Check all carriers for the best fares and schedules—the expansion is still rolling out, so early bookings often capture promotional pricing.
