Schengen Visa Fee Rises to €90: What Sri Lankan Travellers Should Know

If you're planning a trip through Europe's Schengen area, there's an update worth noting: visa fees increased on 11 June 2024. The standard adult Schengen visa fee rose from €80 to €90. For children aged 6–11, the fee increased from €40 to €45.
This 12% increase was implemented as part of the European Commission's regular fee review, which happens every three years and is tied to inflation and civil-service salary adjustments. The new fee applies globally to all Schengen visa applications lodged from that date forward, regardless of where you're applying from.
If you're planning a European trip, factor this fee into your travel budget. The actual cost depends on which Schengen country you apply through (typically the one you're entering first or spending most time in).
