Direct Bengaluru to Colombo Just Got Easier: SriLankan's New Daytime Route
From 31 October 2024, SriLankan Airlines added daytime flights between Bengaluru and Colombo, lifting weekly frequency and targeting short-trip travellers.
On 31 October 2024, SriLankan Airlines introduced new daytime service between Bengaluru and Colombo on Airbus A320s, increasing weekly frequency on the route to 10 flights. The new schedule targets weekend travellers from southern India and business passengers making short trips—flights that depart Bengaluru in morning or early afternoon and arrive in Colombo mid-afternoon, allowing same-day connections or evening hotel arrival.
For Sri Lankans with family in Bangalore or frequent business there, the expanded schedule opens more flexible options: overnight connections to other airlines are now viable, and the daytime departures suit different travel patterns than late-night options. More frequency means more seats and better pricing competition over time—good news for anyone bridging Bangalore and Colombo regularly.
Check SriLankan's website or contact a travel agent for the exact departure times; schedules shift seasonally. Given the airline's network reach across South Asia, these new flights could also reduce connection times for travellers heading beyond Bangalore or Colombo (say, flying Bangalore–Colombo–Europe on a single itinerary).
